Advice: 5 pts win Beacon (4/5 general)

Owner details Beacon: Well backed on debut at Doncaster but the soft ground presumably got him down and unbeaten in three starts since, overcoming blocked run at Silabsury before being deeply impressive in Bath novice and Sandown Listed Stakes, coming right away from Mukhmal (reopposes) in the last furlong; Major contender on that form here.

Owner details Burning The Clock: Form of two of his three maidens is fair and should be upto making himself pay but this a long ask.

Owner details Cotai Glory: Too keen on debut behind Dr No (Coventry seventh) but showed big potentoial since, sixth in the Windsor Castle and then took Bath maiden in good style; Put up a fight to smart looking Limato last time at Newbury in Listed race and that form gives him a fine chance.

Owner details Dougal: Promising debut quickly turned into a win when he landed Brighton maiden and then dead heated in conditions race on the Rowley Mile; Form of that worked out well but disappointment in July Stakes; Worth nothing that this is a far easier group race but still something to prove.

Owner details Fast Act: Maiden form at Leicester has worked out well and followed up Carlisle maiden win with a good third in the Super Sprint at Newbury; Long way behind TIggy Wiggy that day and more needed here, however.

Owner details  Mukhmal: Seriously impressive when overcoming widest stall and big weight to land Lily Anges at Chester but went off like scalded cat in Norfolk and forfeited all chance; Again maybe too headstrong when well beaten second to Beacon but that looks a fair result and will struggle to turn around the form today.

Owner details  Union Rose: Ran a huge race to be second in Windsor Castle two runs back but well beaten fourth behind Beacon and Mukhamal at Sandown last time and hard to see him reversing that form.

Owner details Sprit of Xian: Not really built on her winning debut at Newmarket despite solid runs the next twice and well beaten in Chantilly Group 3; Will need to improve rapidly on that.

VERDICT: Hard to get away from BEACON, who was so impressive when trashing Mukhmal at Sandown last time with Union Rose also well beaten. The fitting of a hood could help the Johnston runner settle but he will do well to reverse the form and could be taken on for the lead by Cotai Glory, who also comes here with solid claims after an excellent run in defeat to a smart type at Newbury. Dougal may be worth giving another chance down in class, and the stable won this with a similar type last year.
