2.35 Glorious Goodwood
Qatar Bloodstock Richmond Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (2YO only)
Winner £45,368 – 8 run
Advice: 1 pt each/way Jungle Cat (7/1 Bet365)
Ivawood: Quickened up as if he was a better than average 2 year old when winning on Sandown debut and built on that impression when coming over the top to swipe aside strong opposition in July Stakes at Newmarket latest (Jungle Cat); Will be hard to stop here even with 3lbs penalty.
Doc Charm: Debut second to The Wow Signal couldn’t have worked out any better and had the makings of a useful horse when a wide margin second time out winner; Needs to improve still on a line through The Wow Signal to get involved here.
Fox Trotter: Nothing that you couldn’t like about the way that he won at Doncaster first time out after a very tardy start for a yard who gets big improvement from their juveniles, striding away from the field when he hit the front; Interesting here.
Jungle Cat: Weakened badly when favourite in the Ayr maiden that Doc Charm was second in and then broke his duck when a ready winner here; Third in the Coventry afterwards and then second in the July Stakes to Ivawood latest, and likely to be on the premises again here.
Louie De Palmer: Unbeaten in Windsor maiden and Ascot Nursery, and better than he was able to show last time when he clipped a blood vessel and then bled; Still must improve but respected here.
Moonraker: Had only a neck to spare at the line when winning Ascot maiden but did well to get there considering he dwelt at the start and 5 of the next eight from that maiden to run have won since, with the runner up third in the Windsor Castle after winning maiden next time; Could be useful and contender here.
Sixty: Second to Jungle Cat on debut here and then won a decent maiden for the track at Salisbury (two subsequent wins from two horses behind him since); Could go well but not hard to see why stable jockey picked Ivawood.
Surewecan: Bare form of his second last time reads very well (attempted to give 12lbs to subsequent Princess Margaret winner Osaila) btut this even tougher and looks the second string to Jungle Cat, although respected nevertheless.
VERDICT: Some useful looking types in here but this should be two from two in-group company for the deeply exciting Ivawood, who looked a star in the making when slaughtering his field in the July Stakes last time and a 3lbs penalty shouldn’t stop him from following up. It could be that the second at Newmarket, JUNGLE CAT, is the each/way alternative, although Moonraker and Fox Trotter shaped with great promise first time out.
