Qatar Prix Vermeille Stakes – Group 1 (Class 1) (3YO plus)
Winner €220,500 – 10 run
Advice: 1 pt Pomology w/o Treve (85/40 Hills)
Treve: Took this on her way to stunning 3yo season which saw her dismantle Arc field of the highest quality afterwards; Not won in two starts this season, but no shame in opening defeat to Cirrus Des Aigles in Ganay and found to be wrong after Prince of Wales’s third, when she was out of her ground and ill at ease on the very quick ground; Since given a break and should be fine today, in which case she is sure to make a bold bid to retain her title; The one to beat in no uncertain terms today.
Chalnetta: Deserves a chance at a big race this season but is going to struggled on the basis of her two Group 2 fourths this season.
Siljan’s Saga: Come a long way since finishing fifth in the Gallante at the beginning of the season, winning the Prix Corrida in fine style before finishing second in the Grand Prix De Saint Cloud, closing fact on flagging Noble Mission on the line; Form stands up fairly well but needs more today.
Baltic Baroness: Hard to have her as a likely winner here based on her fifth behind Sijan’s Saga and sixth behind Cirrus Des Aigles and Treve in Ganay; Move elsewhere.
Pomology: Four starts and four wins, each more impressive than the last especially the Lancashire Oaks when she has stablemate and Nassau winner Sultaina behind, that following on from her win in the Prix Minerve; Has to hold a big chance today if continuing in that same vein.
Sultania: Almost a carbon copy of her very progressive stablemate, having had four starts and made the jump upto pattern company at just the second attempt; Well behind stablemate Pomology before then taking the Nassau in fine style; That was a poor race for the level but more progress seems assure and stepping back up in trip.
Red Lips: Never able to get back into the swing of things in the Jean Romanet but others appeal as being more progressive and needs to improve still to get involved here.
Dolniya: Like others in the field, made up into a very smart filly in short time, landing Group 2 at Saint-Cloud in fine style when never stronger than at the finish; Should come on once again and not hard to see her well involved in the shakeup.
Madame Chiang: Complete and utter blowout in the Oaks but remains a filly of serious potential following her Musidora win although that form now not looking the strongest and would’ve appreciated much more cut in the ground; This still sure to be her trip however in time.
VERDICT: It will be disappointing should Treve be beaten but this is no walkover with a number of the season’s most progressive fillies in Dolniya, Sultania, and POMOLOGY, who is taken to give the Arc winner a serious test on her first try at Group 1 company.
