Dahlia Stakes (2.25) – The high class Jazzi Top should be pacey enough to cope with a drop back in trip and ought to take the beating, but even on account of her L’Opera second she looks short enough in a good renewal here. Amazing Maria was a horse transformed last year for David O’Meara, taking the Windsor Forest, Falmouth and Rotschild in the summer. Whilst she disappointed in Ireland on her last start, the value of that form is as good as anything in the field and she can make a bold bid. Crystal Zvesda has to be respected given the form of Sir Michael Stoute but her 2015 was not as good as one would have hoped given what she did earlier in the year and she must step forward from that. Usherette was well behind AmazingA Maria the last time the two met but she’s won twice impressively since and the fact that she is sent here for Andre Fabre, who loves this day and this race, suggests she has improved since although the value is gone from her price (initially as big as 33/1). Arabian Queen manged to beat Golden Horn last year in one of the great shocks – on betting terms – of recent times, but she has always been capable and this is more her trip than the 12 furlongs she tried twice afterwards. She had been behind a few of these in the leadup to that race, but won well first time out last year. Irish Rookie ran a great race in the French Guineas when second and held her form well enough through the rest of the year. She may be overpriced if handling the extra furlong. Furia Cruzada, Kyllachy Queen and Persona Grata all have a lot to do.
Advice: 1 pt win Amazing Maria (5/1 general)
Longholes.Com Rehab And Pre-Training Handicap (3.00) – Typically competitive but if Huntsman’s Close is ready to go then he has a fair chance off his mark of 102. Sixth in the Stewards’ Cup, he was second in this last year off an 8lbs lower mark and has clearly improved plenty since.
Advice: 1 pt each/way Huntsman’s Close (10/1 general)
Ganay (2.45) – The ground went against The Corsican in the Champion Stakes when he was behind Air Pilot but he’d been progressive before that and should enjoy this more than the Dubai Turf. That run should have him close to spot on and his fourth in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes reads well here. Dairyan is a fair favourite, having run respectably in Dubai behind Postedponed, although he has to improve on what he did in the Sheema Classic last night. Garlingari, an impressive winner against Sumbal last time in the Prix D’Harcourt, was less dominant on better ground here in the Ebury, the second time he’s won this season over that rival. It should be 3-3 at the end of today. Ming Dynasty was behind the pair of them but will be better on a sound surface, something that’s against Sijian’s Saga; Wild Chief doesn’t look as good as them. The absence of rain isn’t a major positive for him. Silverwave has to improve for his recent return but he surely will and if so 14’s is too big for the smart stayer. The tough Norse King has to come in for some respect as well.
Advice: 1 pt win The Corsican (9/2 general)
Muguet (3.50) – There is a line of form that sees Ervedya beating every single horse in this field and she can make a winning return. An outstanding 3 year old last year, she was only beaten by Amazing Maria in the Rotschild at Deauville and used her turn of speed to win three other Group 1’s, including a strong renewal of the Coronation at Royal Ascot. Maimara, beaten about four lenghs the last time they met, could be the selection’s biggest danger although on this ground at this trip, Vadamos could outrun his price.
Advice: 2 pts win Ervedya (10/11 general)
