Last but not least, the other markets of the Championship.
Handicap: We’ve not had Leeds onside in any real fashion but this is surely an ideal way to have them onside and the market expects them to improve on their previous tally of 83 points from last season. That would give them something like an each/way chance. Huddersfield had a nightmare season in the Premier League but they should be able to start winning games again at this level and if they do then they have the quality for the playoffs at the very least. A 13-point start is also generous for Bristol City if they can go as well as we think in the outrights.
Advice: 1 pt each/way Leeds scr (18/1 general), 1 pt each/way Huddersfield +13 (18/1 Bet365, Boylesports), 1 pt each/way Bristol City +13 (18/1 Bet365)
Specials: Blackburn didn’t finish last season so well – they were eighth in January – but Tony Mowbray has made a good pair of singings in the shape of Sam Gallagher and Bradley Johnson and perhaps they can beat Preston this season to be the Top Northwest club. Nottingham Forest have disappointed backers in the past but new manager Sabri Lamouchi has a useful squad at his disposal and they’ve probably got a stronger squad on paper than West Brom and Stoke, both ahead of them in the betting to be the Top Midlands Club. The real best bet is Leeds to be Top Yorkshire Club, however. They could fail to win the title – or even be in the top three – and still beat Middlesbrough, Huddersfield, Sheff Wednesday, Hull and Barnsley.
Advice: 11 pts Leeds Top Yorkshire Club (11/8 Bet365), 3 pts Blackburn Top Northwest Club (6/4 Bet365), 2 pts Nottingham Forest (7/2 Bet365)
Match Bets: Cardiff have more quality in their squad than Stoke do even with their two big departures and far less to prove. The same can be be said of them in a season long matchup with Swansea. Blackburn might have finished last year weakly but they definitely have less to fear from this season than Birmingham, and have also had the better transfer window.
Advice: 5 pts Cardiff to finish above Stoke (4/5 Bet365), 6 pts Cardiff to finish above Swansea (10/11 general), 3 pts Blackburn to finish above Birmingham (10/11 general)
